My name is Scott Bärlocher. I grew up in Wettingen and Würenlos, Switzerland where I went to kindergarten and school. From a young age I was keen on sport, playing tennis, floorball and practising judo before trying rowing for the first time at the age of 15.
Two years later I started racing nationally and did this for three years before making the Swiss Rowing Team in 2017. For the first time I gained international race experience, competing at my first World Rowing Cup and World Rowing U23 Championships. I have been a member of the Swiss Rowing Team ever since. My dream is to get to the very top of the sport and win Olympic and World Championship gold.
Besides rowing I am studying electrical engineering at the polytechnic school ETH in Zurich. I enjoy photography, film, reading and socialising with friends & family.

What It Takes
Hours of Training per Week
30
Kilometers of Rowing per year
4’000
KCal Burnt per day
5’000 - 6’000
Three training sessions per day, every day. As soon as the alarm clock rings early in the morning I eat a bowl of muesli before heading to the gym to warm up for a long endurance training on the water.
After a 22km row it’s time for a second breakfast: toast, cereal, milk. Now it’s time to rest before the second session of the day, an hour of high intensity work on the ergometer.
Once the work’s been done it’s time for a big lunch after which I’ll take a nap. At 16:30 we hit the gym for the third session of the day.
Dinner is usually quick and easy. I spend most of the evening studying. By 22:30 I’m in bed for a good night’s rest. The next morning the alarm clock rings at 7:00, waking me to do it all over again.
